Access to ride the different categories depends

on age, experience & competence

Direct Access

Staged Access

• Riders must pass relevant theory and practical tests and meet minimum age restrictions
• Age 16 for AM
• Age 17 for A1
• Age 19 for A2
• Age 24 for A

Riders must;

• Have 2 years experince on A1 vehicles and pass practicle A2 test to get A2 licence entitlement
  
  
• Have two years experience on A2 vehicles and pass practicle A test to get A licence entitlement
  
  
• Access to the largest vehicles (A) is possible at age 21 via the staged access route
